Luis de la Fuente excludes Real Madrid star from Spanish national team due to Barcelona star

A Barcelona star is reportedly the reason behind the continued absence of Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos from the Spanish national team.

As Barcelona prepares for a crucial match against Rayo Vallecano, coach Hansi Flick is determined to secure all three points, especially after Real Madrid’s recent stumble against Osasuna. Meanwhile, club president Joan Laporta is focused on strengthening the squad in the upcoming transfer window to keep Barça competitive and reclaim their dominance.

According to journalist Nacho Labarga on Radio Marca, Ceballos deserves a national team call-up after exceeding expectations with his performances. However, sources close to Spain’s head coach Luis de la Fuente indicate that he has deliberately excluded Ceballos to avoid potential divisions within the squad.

The decision reportedly stems from a past clash between Ceballos and Barcelona’s Pablo Gavi during the Spanish Super Cup final in January 2023. De la Fuente is keen to maintain harmony in the team, leading to Ceballos’ ongoing omission ahead of the upcoming international break.
