Hansi Flick sh.ocks Araujo and is close to finalizing the signing of a world-class defender to replace him at Barcelona

Barcelona is set to host Rayo Vallecano tonight at the Olympic Stadium of Luis Companys for the 24th round of La Liga. Meanwhile, the club is planning significant squad changes in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the team under German coach Hansi Flick.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona is close to finalizing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah. The 28-year-old defender, known for his strength, speed, and ball-playing ability, aligns perfectly with Flick’s vision for the team. With his contract expiring in June 2025, Barcelona could secure him without a transfer fee, making it a strategic move in the market.

Tah’s arrival could lead to major defensive reshuffling, with Ronald Araujo being the most likely departure. Despite a recent contract renewal, Araujo’s release clause has attracted interest from top European clubs, and Barcelona may be open to a high-value transfer.

If Araujo leaves, Barcelona’s defensive lineup would consist of Tah, Jules Koundé, Iñigo Martínez, and Andreas Christensen, with young La Masia talents potentially stepping up. As the summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona is expected to remain highly active in reshaping its squad.
