Hansi Flick expressed his satisfaction after Barcelona’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano, which propelled them to the top of La Liga.
The decisive moment came when Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty following a foul on Iñigo Martínez. While Flick acknowledged that his team didn’t produce their best performance, he emphasized the significance of securing three points against a tough opponent. The Barcelona coach remains optimistic but believes his squad can still improve as the season progresses.
Hansi Flick acknowledged the difficulty of Barcelona’s 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano, praising his team’s effort against a strong opponent.
“It was a very difficult match against a great rival. We are very happy,” he told the media. “The players are very happy. We all are happy with the situation. I think we played very well today but we can also do better.”
Flick highlighted Rayo’s resilience, noting their nine-game unbeaten run and emphasizing the importance of securing first place in La Liga. “Getting that first place is positive for the fans. Now we are back and we are very happy.”
When asked about Rayo’s disallowed goal, Flick avoided controversy, saying, “I haven’t seen the situation. I think we have VAR, and I believe in VAR. That’s all I can say about controversial plays.”
With this result, Barcelona now sit atop the table on goal difference ahead of Real Madrid, while Atlético Madrid remains just one point behind.
