Liverpool Held to 2-2 Draw in Thrilling Villa Park Encounter
Liverpool played out a dramatic 2-2 draw against Aston Villa in a pulsating Premier League clash at Villa Park. While the result extended their lead at the top to eight points, Arsenal’s game in hand keeps the title race finely balanced.

However, Villa responded with determination. Making his first start for the club, Marcus Rashford troubled Liverpool’s backline, and just before halftime, Youri Tielemans leveled the score with a stunning volley following a poorly cleared set-piece. Minutes later, Ollie Watkins rose unchallenged to head past Alisson, giving Villa a 2-1 lead at the break.
Liverpool, battling fatigue from a demanding schedule, had to dig deep in the second half. They survived a major scare when Rashford rounded Alisson, only for Ibrahima Konaté to make a heroic goal-line clearance.
Their persistence eventually paid off when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s shot took a wicked deflection and found the back of the net, bringing Liverpool level at 2-2.
Both teams pushed for a late winner in a frenetic finale. Darwin Núñez, introduced from the bench, had a golden chance to seal victory but fired over, while Villa’s Donyell Malen struck the post in the dying moments.
