Barcelona remains keen on securing the signing of Las Palmas star Alberto Molero in the near future, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Las Palmas has yet to extend Molero’s contract, which runs until June 2026. By next January, he will enter the final six months of his deal. As a result, the club may be forced to sell him at the end of the season to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Barcelona hopes to leverage the strong relationship between its president, Joan Laporta, and Las Palmas’ president, Ángel Ramírez, to facilitate the transfer. The Catalan club may also use their upcoming match in Gran Canaria as an opportunity to negotiate Molero’s future.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been with Las Palmas since July 2021 and is currently valued at around €25 million. However, his price may drop by season’s end, given his contract situation.
Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, has reportedly approved the signing, viewing Molero as a potential successor to Pedri. The club aims to bring him in next summer.
