Major blow for Real Madrid as Dani Ceballos faces lengthy spell on the sidelines after leaving pitch in tears

Real Madrid has suffered a major blow as midfielder Dani Ceballos is expected to be out for around two months due to a serious injury sustained in the recent Copa del Rey match against Real Sociedad. The injury, affecting the semimembranosus muscle and tendon in his left leg, resulted from a late-game collision with Takefusa Kubo.

The club’s medical team has confirmed the severity of the injury, meaning Ceballos will miss crucial games, including the Champions League round of 16 clashes with Atlético de Madrid and important La Liga fixtures. His absence comes at a critical stage of the season, adding to the challenges for head coach Carlo Ancelotti. Speaking at a press conference, Ancelotti expressed his disappointment, emphasizing Ceballos’s importance to the squad and the need to adjust tactics in his absence.

Beyond impacting Real Madrid’s plans, the injury also disrupts Ceballos’s push for a return to the Spanish national team. However, he remains determined to recover quickly, committing to an intensive rehabilitation program.

With Ceballos sidelined, Ancelotti faces the challenge of reshaping the midfield. Analysts speculate that players like Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Aurélien Tchouaméni may need to take on greater responsibility. The squad’s depth will be tested as they navigate this difficult period without one of their key playmakers.
