Newcastle ‘want’ Isak, Barcelona ‘swap’ with Magpies ‘blunt’ on the ‘only’ way to ‘agree’ shock deal

Newcastle Consider Shock Swap Deal With Barcelona for Alexander Isak

Newcastle United are reportedly open to offloading star striker Alexander Isak to FC Barcelona in a surprising swap deal.

Isak has been in sensational form this season, scoring 19 goals and providing five assists in 27 appearances. His performances have drawn interest from several top European and Premier League clubs, with Arsenal leading the race.

Newcastle’s Stand: Swap Deal or No Deal?

Despite the growing interest, Newcastle are reluctant to let Isak go. They previously avoided selling him last summer by offloading Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

While Arsenal have placed Isak at the top of their striker wishlist, reports from Spain suggest Newcastle are only willing to negotiate with Barcelona if winger Raphinha is included in the deal.

The Magpies value Isak at €150 million and see Raphinha—who has 23 goals and 15 assists in 34 appearances this season—as a long-term target. However, Barcelona are not willing to part with Raphinha, and the Brazilian is also not keen on leaving the Camp Nou, making the proposed swap deal highly complicated.

Barcelona’s Striker Search Continues

With Isak’s price tag and Newcastle’s swap demands making a deal difficult, Barcelona are assessing alternative attacking options. While Vitor Roque is already in the squad, manager Hansi Flick believes he still needs time to adapt. Ferran Torres, who has impressed as a centre-forward, is another internal option Barcelona may turn to.

For now, Newcastle’s conditions make an Isak-to-Barcelona move unlikely—unless the Catalan club finds a way to lower the cost without losing Raphinha.
