Barcelona in Contract Talks with Szczęsny After Impressive Start

Barcelona have begun negotiations with Wojciech Szczęsny over a new contract after the 34-year-old goalkeeper’s outstanding performances since joining in September. Initially brought in to cover for Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury, Szczęsny quickly established himself as the first-choice keeper, replacing Iñaki Peña.

Since his arrival, Barcelona have remained unbeaten with him in goal, winning 14 out of 16 matches and drawing two, while keeping eight clean sheets. His consistency and leadership have impressed the club, prompting discussions about extending his stay.

According to Marca, talks are progressing positively, with both parties optimistic about reaching an agreement before the end of the season. His current deal expires in June, but Barcelona are keen to retain him as a long-term option.
