Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was involved in an extremely heated exchange with one player after he arrived late to a pre-match team talk.
Since taking charge of Barcelona at the start of the season, Hansi Flick has maintained a calm and composed demeanor on the sidelines.
While he is often seen warmly embracing his players after matches, behind the scenes, he is known for his strict disciplinary approach, demanding full commitment from his squad.
According to a recent report, Mundo Deportivo claims that Flick’s high standards have led to several tense moments, including a heated altercation with Jules Koundé before Barcelona’s match against Rayo Vallecano.
The French defender reportedly arrived late for an important pre-match team talk at the Torre Melina Gran Melia hotel. In response, Flick waited at the entrance while the rest of the squad was already inside. Upon Koundé’s arrival, the German coach allegedly slammed the door and shouted at him, later dropping him from the starting lineup to assert his authority.
Additionally, the report suggests that Koundé was likely fined for his tardiness.
This wasn’t an isolated incident, as Jules Koundé was also late for team activities in both October and November, which similarly led to him being dropped from the squad.
Following the second occurrence in November, Hansi Flick made his stance on punctuality clear. He stated: “When I say 13:30 hours, it is neither 13:29 nor 13:31. Before the game, we have two or three meetings. It is very important that the players are there, and it is not difficult to arrive on time. It’s about respect for your colleagues.”
He further emphasized: “Arriving late, even by a minute, is a lack of respect for your teammates.”
