Liverpool Set To Make Move For Newcastle Striker ‘Even If Mohamed Salah Stays’

Newcastle United is preparing for a major approach from Liverpool for their star striker, Alexander Isak.

As reported by talkSPORT, Isak is a top target for Liverpool, regardless of Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield. While rumors of a swap deal involving Darwin Nunez have been dismissed, Liverpool may explore other players as part of the negotiations.

Newcastle came close to signing Joe Gomez last summer, and Jarrell Quansah was also considered as a potential makeweight when Liverpool tried to sign Anthony Gordon from St James’ Park.

The Magpies are set to open contract discussions with Isak at the end of the season, but they know the Swedish striker will attract significant interest after his impressive tally of 50 goals in just 77 Premier League appearances.

With Isak’s future uncertain and Callum Wilson expected to depart, Newcastle’s sporting director, Paul Mitchell, is reportedly interested in Jonathan David, who will soon be a free agent.

However, Newcastle faces tough competition for the Canada international, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and West Ham all reportedly interested in him.

Isak’s performances were key to ending Newcastle’s long trophy drought, particularly his goal in their Carabao Cup final win over

Liverpool.
