Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has predicted that a Chelsea player might leave the club in the next few years.
Chelsea’s season has been underwhelming once again, although they currently sit in the top four, on track to qualify for the Champions League. So, compared to last season, there are signs of progress.
However, this situation could worry Chelsea fans, as many may not feel confident about a strong finish to the season.
Chelsea is aiming for a Champions League spot, primarily for financial reasons. Former midfielder John Obi Mikel recently stated that failing to qualify for the competition next season would be disastrous for the club.
This raises the question of whether some Chelsea players might start to feel unsettled if the team doesn’t secure a Champions League position.
Keown believes Palmer could leave Former player and pundit Keown has recently commented on Cole Palmer, suggesting that the young player may not be fully satisfied with his situation at Chelsea.
Keown stated: “Cole Palmer is probably wondering, ‘What did I really sign up for?’ I could see him leaving the club in the next couple of years.”
Many might share this sentiment, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently reassured that Chelsea is not concerned about Palmer’s situation for now.
Chelsea could still secure a Champions League spot, which would resolve these concerns, and it remains in their hands to achieve that. If they do, all of this could quickly be forgotten.
