Barcelona set sights on €45 million-rated Premier League midfielder – report

Barcelona are well-equipped in the midfield position, with Hansi Flick having a variety of dependable options available. As a result, strengthening this area is not a top priority for the Blaugrana’s sporting management ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, Barcelona remains open to any chance to improve the squad, and a particular Premier League midfielder has reportedly caught their interest.

Sandro Tonali on Barcelona’s radar According to Calciomercato, Barcelona has set its sights on Newcastle United and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali as a possible target for the summer.

Andrea Mancini, the former sporting director of Sampdoria and son of Roberto Mancini, is now working alongside Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director. Mancini’s role involves evaluating and scouting players that Barcelona is interested in.

One of the latest scouting reports has focused on Tonali, with Barcelona showing significant appreciation for the Italian midfielder’s skills.

Currently, there are no ongoing negotiations between Barcelona and Newcastle, but the club’s interest is considered genuine, and Tonali’s representatives have already been notified.

Interest in Italy Securing Tonali’s signature will be challenging, as he is under contract with Newcastle until 2028 and is highly valued after contributing to their Carabao Cup victory this season.

Additionally, Juventus has also shown interest in the 24-year-old midfielder, although his salary could be a barrier for the struggling Italian club.

There have also been talks about a potential return to AC Milan, although this move is unlikely to happen this year and may take place in the future.

As mentioned earlier, strengthening the midfield is not a priority for Barcelona, so despite their apparent interest, a move for Tonali this summer seems unlikely.
