Federico Chiesa’s first season at Liverpool has been far from smooth, but his father, Enrico Chiesa, insists that the forward is happy at the club and determined to prove himself.
The 27-year-old provided a standout moment by scoring the decisive goal in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final victory at Wembley, but overall, his season has been challenging. With nine league games remaining, his role could still develop, though speculation about a potential summer departure has already begun.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Enrico Chiesa reaffirmed his son’s commitment to Liverpool: “Federico is very happy at Liverpool. He’s at a top club leading the Premier League, and we hope he can win the title! He’s there to make an impact and has a great opportunity.”
Despite being one of Europe’s most promising attackers following Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph, Chiesa has struggled for game time at Liverpool. He has yet to start a Premier League match and has only made two starts in 11 appearances this season—a situation that could easily frustrate a player of his caliber.
However, his father believes Federico’s mindset remains strong: “I’ve been telling him the same thing since he was a kid. Until he was 15, he didn’t play much. When he’d ask for advice, I’d tell him: keep training, don’t give up, and always be ready for your chance.”
While a summer transfer remains a possibility, Enrico Chiesa insists there are no regrets about leaving Juventus. During the recent international break, Federico was the only senior outfield Liverpool player not called up for national duty, giving him a chance to return to Italy, reset, and focus on breaking into Liverpool’s starting XI.
