Chelsea get major injury boost as key man back in training ahead of Tottenham clash

Chelsea are aiming to get back to winning ways after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in their previous match, where makeshift striker Mikel Merino scored the only goal at the Emirates.

Nicolas Jackson could make his return for the upcoming match against Tottenham after being sidelined for around two months due to a hamstring injury he picked up in the 2-1 victory over West Ham United.

The Senegalese forward has netted nine goals for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, making him the second-highest scorer for the Blues, behind only Cole Palmer.

The club posted an update on their website, showing Jackson back in training and working out in the gym. Chelsea also mentioned that during the international break, Jackson was among the players training, with the club stating: “Among them is striker Nicolas Jackson, who was on the grass today, and is one of those Maresca had previously stated he hoped would be close to a comeback after this international break.”

Chelsea coach Maresca had previously mentioned: “He [Jackson] will likely be back after the international break. Him and Noni [Madueke]. We have two games before the break, and then we can rest the players and push for the final stretch of the season.”

Jackson has faced difficulties with consistency this season, raising further questions about the club’s transfer strategy heading into the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to finish the season strongly to silence any speculation about Chelsea bolstering their forward options, especially after missing out on signing Victor Osimhen last summer.
