Liverpool Targeting Right-Back Reinforcements Amid Alexander-Arnold Exit Rumors
Liverpool may prioritize signing a new right-back this summer as speculation grows around Trent Alexander-Arnold’s potential departure. With just three months remaining on his contract and Real Madrid reportedly pushing for a move, the Reds could soon be in need of a replacement.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently stated that a move to the Bernabéu is now “on,” making Alexander-Arnold’s exit more likely than ever.
Liverpool to Meet with Frimpong’s Representatives
If Alexander-Arnold leaves, Conor Bradley would be Liverpool’s only senior right-back. In response, the club’s management is set to meet with the agents of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, according to Empire of the Kop.
Bundesliga expert Christian Falk previously reported that incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot has kept in touch with the 24-year-old and even hoped to sign him last summer.
Frimpong a Leading Candidate for the Role
Liverpool is also monitoring Feyenoord’s Givairo Read (CaughtOffside), further highlighting their urgency to strengthen the position.
Frimpong appears to be the strongest candidate, with a €40m (£33.5m) release clause at Leverkusen. Known for his blistering pace and attacking ability, he has contributed four goals and 11 assists this season, totaling 39 goal involvements since the start of 2023/24 (Transfermarkt).
While Bradley has impressed when given opportunities, relying solely on him next season would be a risk. Signing a player of Frimpong’s caliber would help fill the potential void left by Alexander-Arnold.
