Chelsea have made Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi their “priority” for the summer transfer window, according to journalist Eduardo Burgos

The Blues have been strongly associated with Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, but Burgos reports that Enzo Maresca’s team has already pulled out of the race for the Spanish international. As a result, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are now his primary contenders.

Instead, it is believed that Guehi will become the main target for the London club as they look to strengthen their defensive options.

The 24-year-old, who earned his 23rd cap for England under Thomas Tuchel during their match against Latvia on Monday, is expected to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season as his contract enters its final year.

Guehi, who left Chelsea for Selhurst Park four years ago, is a product of Chelsea’s academy. However, he was sold to Palace for £18m in the summer of 2021 without a buyback clause. Given his contract situation, Guehi is likely to cost less than that amount, though his transfer fee will still be higher than what Chelsea originally received.

Chelsea could sell up to 12 players this summer. As usual, the club is expected to be busy with both arrivals and departures. In addition to potential signings like Guehi, several players may be sold to fund new acquisitions.

Reports indicate that permanent departures of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Carney Chukwuemeka, Raheem Sterling, Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Armando Broja, and David Datro Fofana could all be approved in the coming months.
