A new bombshell report has emerged revealing what Manchester United’s players think about the prospect of Jadon Sancho returning to the club.
Jadon Sancho, 25, is currently on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United after falling out of favor with former United manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho joined Chelsea last summer on a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy for £20-25 million. However, it remains uncertain whether he will stay in west London beyond the 2024/25 season or return to his parent club. If Chelsea decide against making the move permanent, they will reportedly have to pay a £5 million penalty.
According to Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst, some Manchester United players have serious doubts about Sancho returning, believing he is not at the required level to play for the club. While his personality is not seen as an issue, senior figures in the dressing room reportedly felt he struggled to meet the demands of playing for United.
Sancho, who has 23 England caps, has made 29 appearances for Chelsea this season, contributing two goals and seven assists.
When asked about Sancho’s future in February, United head coach Ruben Amorim distanced himself from the situation, stating, “I don’t know. I’m just focused on my players and my problems. Sancho is not my problem.”
Jadon Sancho, the Camberwell-born England international, is no stranger to European football, having had two spells at Borussia Dortmund. With uncertainty surrounding his future at Chelsea, he could once again find himself playing abroad next season.
According to Football Italia, Serie A clubs Roma and Lazio are reportedly interested in signing Sancho. He was previously linked with a move to Juventus, but no deal materialized.
Earlier this season, Sancho spoke to Chelsea.com, expressing his happiness at being back at a club he supported as a child.
“It’s still a bit weird to me, but it’s always good to be home,” he said. “I always supported Chelsea as a kid because of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. And speaking to Enzo [Maresca] before I came here, he was determined to work with me. He showed me his plans, where he sees me fitting in, and how I could help the team moving forward. That brought me here. He made me feel comfortable. I liked his energy on the FaceTime call we had.”
Currently, Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League, while Manchester United are 13th.
