Xavi Simons to Man Utd: Transfer TRUTH revealed as €80m deal eyed

Manchester United have shown genuine interest in Xavi Simons, but a deal appears unlikely at this point, according to reports.

Although the Dutch midfielder could be a key player in the summer transfer market, he only made his permanent move to RB Leipzig in January, when the Bundesliga side unexpectedly announced his signing.

However, the length of his contract suggests that his time at Leipzig may not be long-term. He didn’t sign the maximum five-year deal, hinting at the possibility of leaving the club sooner rather than later.

While a move this summer isn’t guaranteed, it remains a possibility, particularly if Leipzig fails to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United is among the clubs linked with a summer move for Simons, but a transfer has always seemed unlikely due to Leipzig’s expected €80m asking price.

Ben Jacobs has confirmed that United are interested, but a move to Old Trafford seems improbable at this time due to multiple hurdles.

The €80m price tag appears too high for United unless they can make significant sales, and Simons isn’t currently a priority for the club. They are focusing on signing a centre-forward rather than an attacking midfielder. Furthermore, it’s uncertain whether Simons would be willing to join United if they fail to secure a Champions League spot, as his teammate, Benjamin Sesko, has already expressed a preference for clubs in Europe’s top competition. It would be surprising if Simons had a different view.
