Sky Sports reporter drops ‘surprise’ Trent Alexander-Arnold transfer update as Real Madrid move edges closer

Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy has dropped a new update on the future of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold amid interest from Real Madrid.

According to talkSPORT, Trent Alexander-Arnold has decided to join Real Madrid next summer.

However, conflicting reports suggest that Liverpool is unaware of any such decision, as the right-back remains under contract with the club for another three months.

Under current regulations, Real Madrid can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Alexander-Arnold, which would take effect on July 1 if signed. However, if the Spanish giants want him available for the Club World Cup—where squad lists must be submitted by June 10—they would need to agree on a transfer fee with Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reporter Reddy has revealed that both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been caught off guard by recent speculation, with no significant updates in the situation since January.

At that time, reports indicated that Real had submitted a £20 million bid for Alexander-Arnold, which Liverpool rejected. The Reds wanted the 26-year-old to see out the season at Anfield while hoping to convince him to sign a new contract.

Reddy further clarified that “no deal has been signed, nor has a conclusion been communicated to either club.”

As a result, the uncertainty surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s future looks set to continue—alongside ongoing contract dilemmas involving Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, both of whom are also nearing the end of their current deals.

Virgil van Dijk has been linked with a potential move to PSG after being seen in conversation with the club’s sporting director, Luis Campos, and president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, in the tunnel following Liverpool’s Champions League exit at Anfield earlier this week.

Meanwhile, both Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah—this season’s Premier League top scorer—have yet to make any public statements regarding their future at Liverpool, leaving uncertainty over whether they intend to stay at Anfield.
