Brazilian star Raphinha Diaz has identified the player he considers the most crucial in Barcelona’s squad, highlighting his key role and major influence on the team’s performance.
Barcelona is gearing up to face Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, April 2, in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at the Riyadh Metropolitano Stadium. The first leg ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.
While many believe Raphinha himself is Barcelona’s standout player, he surprised everyone by naming young Spanish midfielder Pedri as the team’s most vital player.
Speaking to the press, Raphinha stated: “Pedri may not have many assists or goals, but for me, he is the most important player in our squad. Everything flows through him, and it should. When he’s not on the field, something feels missing.”
The Brazilian winger further emphasized: “I believe Pedri is the heartbeat of the team. He’s among the best players in the world, and I say that with certainty.”
Raphinha also voiced his frustration over modern football’s excessive focus on statistics, saying: “It’s unfortunate that the game now relies too much on numbers, often overlooking the true essence of football and the impact players have on the pitch.”
