Liverpool fans think they’ve spotted what one Liverpool player ‘said’ to Trent Alexander-Arnold immediately after Everton win

Fans think they’ve spotted what one Liverpool player ‘said’ to Trent Alexander-Arnold following their big win over Everton.

Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Everton on Wednesday, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to 12 points ahead of Arsenal.

Diogo Jota netted the decisive goal in the 57th minute, beating Jordan Pickford—a decision that left David Moyes frustrated.

The Reds claimed the win without first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who missed the match due to an injury sustained against Paris Saint-Germain last month. With Conor Bradley also unavailable, Arne Slot opted to deploy Curtis Jones at right-back, despite his usual midfield role.

Jones impressed defensively, helping Liverpool keep a clean sheet. After the match, he shared a warm embrace with Alexander-Arnold, who was present at Anfield despite his injury.

The two engaged in a brief conversation before Alexander-Arnold burst into laughter, leading fans to speculate that Jones jokingly suggested he was taking over the right-back position amid rumors of Alexander-Arnold’s potential move to Real Madrid.

One X user speculated, “I bet Curtis said, ‘I’m taking your position,’ and they both started laughing.”

Another commented, “You could tell he was super invested in Curtis’ performance.”

A third added, “That’s his PR telling him to do all that, his head is gone long time back.”

Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires this summer, and he appears to be nearing a free transfer to Real Madrid.

Having spent his entire career at Liverpool after coming through their youth academy, he has made 349 appearances across all competitions. However, this season looks set to be his last in a Liverpool shirt.
