🚨 Ben Foster Ranks Premier League’s Top 10 Midfielders, Sparking Debate Over Gerrard’s Position!

The long-standing debate between Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, and Frank Lampard has been reignited by former England goalkeeper Ben Foster, who recently ranked the top 10 Premier League midfielders of all time. Foster, who accumulated 390 Premier League appearances, fueled the discussion during his appearance on the ‘Fozcast’ podcast.

Foster’s list began with Manchester City stars David Silva and Yaya Touré, with former teammate Ryan Giggs slotting in at ninth place. Giggs was joined by Welsh compatriot and two-time PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale, who, despite being more of a winger, took the seventh spot.

The rankings became more heated when Foster turned to the fierce Premier League rivalry between Manchester United’s Roy Keane and Arsenal’s Patrick Vieira. Keane took the higher position at fifth, with Vieira just behind in sixth.

However, the biggest talking point came when Foster placed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard in fourth place, despite many considering him the most well-rounded midfielder to have played in the Premier League. Gerrard was outranked by Frank Lampard and Kevin De Bruyne, who took the third and second spots respectively, while Foster declared Scholes the greatest midfielder in Premier League history.

Foster admitted that there was “massive umming and ahhing” over his picks, though he felt his selections weren’t “a million miles off.” His co-host, Tubes, disagreed, stating, “Some of the ordering is wrong.”

The list quickly sparked fierce reactions on TikTok. One fan was particularly outraged by Gerrard’s fourth-place ranking, calling it “crazy,” while another insisted, “If you don’t know it’s Paul Scholes, then you don’t know ball.”

There were also comments questioning Bale’s place as a midfielder, with one user humorously suggesting, “If Bale is a midfielder, then so is Ronaldo — therefore Ronaldo is first.” Another pointed out the glaring omission of Cesc Fàbregas from the list, commenting, “Fàbregas must have played golf.”
