Liverpool Closing in on Premier League Glory: Guard of Honour Incoming?

Arne Slot’s Reds inch closer to title — and Arsenal may have to clap them in at Anfield!

Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 Merseyside Derby win over Everton has set them firmly on course for Premier League triumph. With an impressive 12-point lead and just eight games remaining, Arne Slot’s side are now on the brink of delivering the club’s 20th league title.

Here’s how it could unfold:

Title Confirmation Scenarios:

If Arsenal win every game, Liverpool still need 13 points to mathematically clinch the title.

That would place May 4 (vs Chelsea at Stamford Bridge) as a likely crowning moment.

But if Arsenal falter against Everton and Brentford, and Liverpool win their next three (vs Fulham, West Ham, and Leicester), the title could be sealed by April 20 — just six days shy of Manchester United’s all-time record for earliest win (April 14, 2001).

Guard of Honour Candidates:

If Liverpool lock the title in by April 20, five clubs may be forced to give them the guard of honour. Among them? Arsenal, who would return to Anfield on May 10 — potentially saluting the very team that outpaced them in the title race.

This wouldn’t be the first time. Back in 2020, Mikel Arteta’s men clapped in Klopp’s champions — a déjà vu moment Arsenal fans may dread.

The Reds are almost there. The question now is not if — but when and who

will be applauding.
