Trent Alexander-Arnold tipped to make shock Liverpool U-turn after surprise ‘twist’ in Real Madrid saga

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure from Liverpool is in fresh doubt.

Liverpool fans are coming to terms with the likelihood of losing long-time right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract with his boyhood club is set to expire at the end of the season.

As Liverpool closes in on what could be their second Premier League title of the modern era, they’ve secured major contract extensions for key players like Mohamed Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk. However, Alexander-Arnold is widely expected to move on this summer, having already achieved all major honors with the club and reportedly being drawn to a new challenge with Real Madrid.

Still, reports suggest the transfer isn’t a done deal. According to former Manchester United scout Mick Brown, Real Madrid’s anticipated dismissal of manager Carlo Ancelotti could alter the situation. Brown told Football Insider that Ancelotti played a key role in persuading Alexander-Arnold to consider a move to Madrid.

Now, with Ancelotti’s future uncertain, the 26-year-old England international is reportedly reconsidering his options and asking questions about the potential switch. Pressure from Liverpool supporters and the club itself is also mounting, urging him to remain at Anfield.

With no agreement yet in place, Alexander-Arnold remains in a strong position to choose his next move carefully. While Ancelotti may have influenced his interest in Real Madrid, the defender is likely weighing multiple factors—one of which could include a possible reunion with former manager Jürgen Klopp.

“I believe there’s still a possibility he stays at Liverpool,” Brown commented. “There’s been endless speculation all season, but no contract has been signed yet.”

He added that Real Madrid appears to be heading into a rebuilding period, which could introduce uncertainty for Alexander-Arnold. “A new manager might not see him as a fit, and that could affect his decision.”

While Alexander-Arnold has already lifted both the Premier League and Champions League trophies with Liverpool, he’s reportedly ready to take on a new challenge—one that only a handful of elite clubs like Real Madrid can offer.

He scored the decisive goal in Liverpool’s recent win over Leicester City, putting them just one win away from clinching the title. His post-match interview was cryptic—offering no concrete answers, yet leaving plenty open to interpretation.
