Liverpool fans are disgusted by what Darwin Nunez ‘posted’ 24 hours before club can become Premier League champions

Liverpool fans are not happy with Darwin Nunez after spotting what he posted on social media just one day before they could win the Premier League title.

On Sunday afternoon, Arne Slot’s Liverpool side could secure the 2024/25 Premier League title with either a win or a draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

In the lead-up to the crucial match, several key Liverpool players have emphasized how vital winning the title is this season. Captain Virgil van Dijk even called on supporters to wear red to create a powerful atmosphere.

One player who had remained largely silent during Liverpool’s title push was Darwin Nunez — until now. However, his recent comments have sparked anger among fans.

Since joining Liverpool from Benfica in the summer of 2022 for a €75 million (£64 million) fee, Nunez has struggled to meet expectations and establish himself as a consistent performer.

When Arne Slot took over from the iconic Jurgen Klopp at the beginning of the season, there was hope that Nunez might turn things around. However, it seems his fortunes haven’t improved, and speculation is growing that he could leave in the summer.

In what appeared to be a now-deleted post on his X account, the 25-year-old reportedly said: “No wonder I don’t play more, because the last game I started in the Premier League went well and suddenly…”

The post was quickly removed and replaced with a more neutral update — a selfie with teammate Alexis Mac Allister and a photo of his tea, captioned simply: “Good morning!”

Nunez also changed his X profile picture shortly after the incident, but it wasn’t enough to prevent fans from noticing and sharing screenshots of the original post online — sparking widespread backlash.

One angry supporter wrote: “Darwin Nunez is a moron. We all wanted him to succeed, but it hasn’t worked out. He’s immature and not worth the drama.”

Another frustrated fan said: “Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool career is over. Just freeze him out and sell him this summer.”

A disappointed fan added: “He’s too emotional. When he’s good, it’s brilliant — but the bad moments are really bad.

“He has all the raw talent but can’t consistently put it together to reach an elite level. If his fate wasn’t already sealed, it definitely is now.
