Chelsea Eye Morgan Rogers as Potential Summer Signing, Could Form Dynamic Partnership with Cole Palmer

Chelsea are reportedly targeting Aston Villa’s talented forward Morgan Rogers as part of their transfer plans for the summer. The 22-year-old has been in excellent form this season, contributing significantly with 14 goals and 13 assists in 50 appearances, helping Villa reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Rogers’ potential move to Stamford Bridge could see him reunited with close friend and former Manchester City academy teammate, Cole Palmer. The two share a strong bond, with Rogers even being credited for originating their iconic ‘cold’ goal celebration from their time at City.

The interest in Rogers aligns with Chelsea’s broader strategy of strengthening their attack with young, versatile players. Rogers, capable of playing as a winger, striker, or attacking midfielder, would offer manager Enzo Maresca flexibility in his offensive tactics.

However, Villa could be under financial pressure due to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), with their wage bill reportedly making up more than 90% of their revenue. This situation may force them to consider selling key players like Rogers to balance their finances.

Should the move go through, the partnership between Rogers and Palmer could reignite their strong on-field chemistry, enhancing Chelsea’s attacking options in the upcoming

season.
