Chelsea Targeting European Glory Again as Maresca Eyes Historic Milestone

Chelsea are preparing for their biggest European match in four years as they get ready to take on Djurgarden in the UEFA Conference League semi-finals. While it’s not the Champions League, the chance to lift continental silverware is still a huge moment—especially as the club’s last major European run came under Thomas Tuchel in 2021, when they beat Real Madrid and went on to win the Champions League.

That memorable campaign was defined by standout performances, including a dominant display from N’Golo Kanté in the semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea triumphed 2-0 that night behind closed doors, with goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount sealing their passage to the final—and eventually the trophy in Porto.

Now, Enzo Maresca hopes to replicate that success, albeit in Europe’s third-tier competition. A win in next month’s final in Wroclaw would complete Chelsea’s European trophy set (Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League), making them the first club to achieve this feat. It would also deliver the first piece of silverware under the Boehly-Clearlake era and mark a historic first trophy for Maresca in his debut season as head coach.

Maresca emphasized the importance of winning, stating that Chelsea has always been about trophies and that his young squad is eager to bring home silverware to reward the fans’ support and kickstart a new era of suc

cess.
