Liverpool star makes shock u-turn on his future leaving Spanish giants in shock

One of Liverpool’s top player has reportedly made a massive u-turn regarding his future amid links to a Spanish giant.

Fresh off securing their 20th English league title with a win over Tottenham, Liverpool are now turning their attention to summer transfers—both incoming and outgoing. While manager Arne Slot is planning a much busier transfer window compared to last season, one expected departure may no longer be happening.

Reports had suggested that Luis Díaz was among the players likely to be sold, with interest from European giants like Barcelona and PSG, as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia. Alongside speculation about possible exits for Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota, Díaz seemed destined to leave.

However, according to Football365, the Colombian winger has now reportedly decided he wants to stay at Anfield and is hoping to agree on a new deal with the club. Despite earlier doubts over his future due to stalled contract talks, Díaz now appears keen to be part of Liverpool’s next chapter under Slot.

The report further reveals that a Spanish source claims Barcelona are stunned by Luis Díaz’s apparent change of heart. The Colombian international, who has tallied 16 goals and 8 assists this season, is said to be one of the Catalan club’s top targets, and his decision to consider a Liverpool extension has reportedly left club executives feeling betrayed.

Barcelona had viewed Díaz as an ideal addition to Hansi Flick’s evolving squad and had been in contact with the player throughout the season. Despite being under contract at Anfield until 2027, Sky Sports reports that Liverpool will begin formal talks this summer to extend his deal even further.
