Guardiola wants to sign Barcelona duo to return City to the top!

Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing a double swoop for Barcelona stars Raphinha and Pau Cubarsí as part of his plan to reshape Manchester City after a season that fell short of expectations. According to El Nacional, Guardiola sees the Brazilian winger and the 18-year-old central defender as ideal additions to bolster City’s attack and defense, respectively.

Raphinha has caught Guardiola’s attention with his versatility, pace, and standout performances in big games. Meanwhile, Cubarsí’s composure, tactical intelligence, and maturity beyond his years have marked him as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.

However, Barcelona has no intention of letting either player go. The club considers both to be crucial pillars of new coach Hansi Flick’s project. Raphinha is in line for a contract extension through 2029, while Cubarsí is seen as untouchable, alongside other youth stars like Pedri and Gavi. Barca’s improved financial situation also gives them leverage to reject even substantial offers.

Despite Guardiola’s interest, current signals suggest City will face an uphill battle in prying the duo away from Camp Nou.
