Araujo is not the only one responsible for the elimination… another player is at risk of being kicked out of Barcelona after the Inter disaster!

Barcelona’s crushing Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan has triggered deep disappointment and serious internal evaluation within the club. While Ronald Araujo has borne much of the blame, he isn’t the only player whose future is now uncertain.

According to El Nacional, veteran goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny is also under intense scrutiny. Signed in January as a temporary replacement for the injured Marc-André ter Stegen, Szczęsny initially impressed in La Liga with composed performances and clean sheets that brought a sense of stability to the team. His form even led Barcelona to consider extending his stay.

However, his performances against Inter — where he conceded seven goals over two legs — have changed the outlook. While not all the goals were directly his fault, his lack of decisive saves in crucial moments has raised doubts among coaching staff and executives about his suitability at the highest level.

Now, sporting director Deco is reportedly looking at alternatives, including Espanyol’s rising star Juan García and other international prospects. With Ter Stegen expected to return soon, the club may decide not to renew Szczęsny’s contract.

Barring a dramatic turnaround, Szczęsny is likely to leave in the summer, joining Araujo among those most affected by the fallout of Barcelona’s European exit. The loss to Inter could mark the start of a significant reshuffle at Camp Nou — one that reshapes the club’s core heading into next season.
