Kevin De Bruyne transfer bombshell as Liverpool ‘make offer’ for Man City star

Liverpool Eye Stunning Free Transfer for Manchester City Star Kevin De Bruyne

Liverpool have reportedly made a sensational approach to sign Manchester City icon Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, as the Belgian prepares to leave the Etihad at the end of the season after not being offered a contract extension.

De Bruyne’s exit will close the chapter on an illustrious career with City, where he has won six Premier League titles and established himself as one of the league’s finest ever midfielders. Now, Liverpool appear poised to offer him a new challenge—and potentially, another shot at league glory.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Reds have already submitted a formal offer for the 33-year-old, who is open to continuing his career at a top level—even if that means joining one of City’s direct rivals. His recent performances, including a winning goal against Wolves, prove he still has plenty to offer.

Reflecting on his looming departure, De Bruyne admitted:

“I know that I only have one home game left… A lot of teammates have said that it’s sad I have to go too, but that’s just how it goes sometimes in life. I don’t know what the future will be, but I know that I can still play here.”

De Bruyne has not hidden his frustration with Manchester City’s leadership, reportedly expressing discontent over how his exit is being handled. With clubs across Europe monitoring his situation, including Napoli—who are hoping his relationship with Romelu Lukaku may sway him—the race for his signature is heating up. MLS clubs and Aston Villa are also said to be interested.

Liverpool, while publicly downplaying reports, would pull off a masterstroke by bringing in a player of De Bruyne’s caliber for free. His creativity could inject a fresh spark into the Reds’ midfield, complementing stars like Mohamed Salah and offering tactical versatility under incoming manager Arne Slot.

Interestingly, De Bruyne once revealed he was a boyhood Liverpool fan:

“I was a Liverpool fan. My family that live in England were all Liverpool supporters, so I was, too. I loved Michael Owen because I was really small and quick like him.”

Slot will have to consider how the Belgian maestro would fit into a midfield already featuring Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister. Still, a player of De Bruyne’s pedigree would be hard to turn down.

As the summer window approaches, all eyes will be on whether Liverpool can finalize one of the boldest signings in recent Premier League history.
