Liverpool star’s future in doubt amid Manchester United interest.

Liverpool to Sell Kostas Tsimikas This Summer as Defensive Overhaul Begins

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to part ways with Kostas Tsimikas during the upcoming transfer window, according to Football Insider. The Greek left-back, who has been a reliable deputy to Andy Robertson since arriving from Olympiacos in 2020, no longer features in the club’s long-term plans.

Though he played a role in the Reds’ recent trophy successes—including decisive moments in the 2022 FA Cup and 2024 EFL Cup finals—Tsimikas, now 28, is expected to be placed on the transfer list. His current contract runs until 2027.

Search for Successor Underway

Liverpool have already lined up Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as their primary target to replace Tsimikas. Former striker Ian Wright has even hinted that a deal for the 20-year-old Hungarian may already be “done.”

End of an Era

Tsimikas has made 114 appearances for Liverpool and built strong bonds within the squad—most notably with Mohamed Salah, whom he once described as “one of my best mates.” But with Trent Alexander-Arnold also set to leave, this summer marks the start of a significant reshaping of Liverpool’s defensive flanks under new boss Arne Slot.
