Keen on the move” – Romano provides transfer update all Liverpool fans want to hear

Liverpool Identify Jeremie Frimpong as Key Target to Replace Departing Alexander-Arnold

Fresh off their Premier League title triumph, Liverpool are already turning their attention to the summer transfer window — with replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold emerging as the club’s top priority.

The England international, a cornerstone of Liverpool’s recent successes including two league titles and a Champions League trophy, has officially announced his intention to leave the club at the end of the season. Multiple reports suggest he is poised to join Real Madrid, marking the end of an era at Anfield.

As Liverpool prepare for life without their dynamic right-back, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is among the top candidates to fill Alexander-Arnold’s boots.

“Liverpool are well informed on Jeremie Frimpong’s situation and how the installments are defined for his €35–40 million release clause,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter). “He remains one of the main names on the shortlist to replace Trent, with Frimpong expected to be keen on the move.”

Frimpong has been instrumental in Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga title win under Xabi Alonso, registering standout performances that have put him on the radar of Europe’s elite. With Arne Slot set to take the reins at Liverpool, Frimpong’s pace, attacking prowess, and Dutch connection could make him an ideal fit in a refreshed system.

While no formal bid has been made yet, momentum is clearly building as Liverpool accelerate their summer plans — with Frimpong a potentially significant addition in what could be a transformative window at Anfield.

This season, Jeremie Frimpong has once again underlined his attacking prowess, tallying four goals and six assists in the Bundesliga, alongside five assists in the Champions League. His ability to influence play in the final third has made him one of the most sought-after full-backs in Europe — and a standout candidate for Liverpool as they prepare to reshape their defensive flanks.

The Dutch international’s explosiveness and creativity from deep mirror many of the traits Alexander-Arnold brought to Jürgen Klopp’s system, making him a natural successor under incoming manager Arne Slot.

Liverpool’s revamp isn’t limited to the right side, however. With a double full-back rebuild in sight, the club is also targeting a new left-back to add depth and competition. Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has emerged as the primary candidate. The 20-year-old Hungarian has impressed in the Premier League with his pace, tenacity, and attacking intent — attributes that align with Liverpool’s evolving tactical demands.

With both Frimpong and Kerkez on the radar, Liverpool are clearly prioritizing high-energy, offensive-minded full-backs as part of their summer overhaul. The strategy reflects Slot’s expected emphasis on width, tempo, and transitional play as he looks to build on the club’s title-winning momentum.
