Pedri Set to Reach 64 Matches This Season as Barcelona Face Real Madrid
Barcelona’s midfield maestro Pedri is on the verge of playing his 64th match of the season when the Catalan giants face Real Madrid, a figure that mirrors the intense workload he experienced during the 2020–21 campaign — a season that ultimately contributed to a string of injury setbacks.

Toni Kroos, the recently retired Real Madrid and Germany legend, highlighted Pedri’s significance on his podcast Einfach mal Luppen. “For me, a player like Pedri is more important than Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, or Lewandowski,” said Kroos, underlining the midfielder’s critical role in Hansi Flick’s evolving Barcelona project.
Pedri’s influence has been instrumental in Barcelona’s campaign, helping the club reach the Champions League semifinals and generating €116 million in revenue from the tournament — a financial boost that strengthens their position amid ongoing rebuilding efforts.
