Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho has revealed that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez made a personal trip from Spain to England in an attempt to recruit him, underscoring the high regard in which the Spanish club holds the young winger.
“They saw me as Cristiano Ronaldo’s successor at Real Madrid,” Garnacho said. “It was unbelievable that their president traveled all the way just to convince me.”
Despite the allure of joining one of the world’s biggest clubs, Garnacho reaffirmed his allegiance to United with a bold five-word message posted on Instagram: “I love this football club.”
Born in Madrid and a longtime admirer of Ronaldo, Garnacho began his rise after joining Manchester United’s youth ranks from Atlético Madrid in 2020. His rapid development has drawn attention from Europe’s elite, including Real Madrid, who reportedly view him as a long-term investment.
Nevertheless, Garnacho remains firmly committed to Manchester United. He has expressed a desire to follow in Ronaldo’s footsteps—at Old Trafford—before considering any future moves.
Under contract until 2028, the 20-year-old winger has cemented his place in the squad with strong showings, including a standout display in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool.
While Real Madrid’s pursuit highlights Garnacho’s growing profile, his dedication to United suggests a transfer to Spain is unlikely anytime soon.
