Frimpong Top of Two-Man Shortlist!
Alexander-Arnold exit confirmed, fans jeer him, and Reds move swiftly to sign Bundesliga star Jeremie Frimpong!
Full Story:
Liverpool have officially moved on from Trent Alexander-Arnold, who shocked many by confirming he will leave the club on a free after his contract expired last month. The situation turned sour when Anfield turned on him, with sections of fans booing him during the Arsenal match—both during his second-half appearance and post-match near the Kop.
Dominik Szoboszlai attempted to defuse tensions, urging supporters to “lay off” the homegrown right-back. But internally, Liverpool appear to have already shifted focus to the future.
According to L’Equipe, the Reds have settled on a two-man shortlist to replace Trent, and their top target is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutch international is a dynamic, attacking right-back who was instrumental in Xabi Alonso’s treble-winning side. Over the past two Bundesliga campaigns, Frimpong has contributed a staggering 26 goals and assists, and also registered five assists in just 10 Champions League games this season.
Frimpong, 24, is available for €35–€40 million, and Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Liverpool are already in advanced talks with his camp. A former Manchester City youth product and Celtic standout, Frimpong is well-acquainted with British football—making him a seamless cultural and stylistic fit.
The identity of the second player on Liverpool’s shortlist hasn’t been revealed yet, but with Conor Bradley expected to feature more heavily next season, the club is keen to ensure depth and competition at right-back.
With Alexander-Arnold’s departure marking the end of an era—and leaving a bitter aftertaste—Liverpool are wasting no time in preparing for a new tactical identity under Arne Slot.
