Ancelotti’s Madrid Farewell May Not Be Final – Talks of Future Return Already Underway!

Just days after Brazil appointment, Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid plot post-World Cup reunion

Carlo Ancelotti, confirmed to take over Brazil after the La Liga season ends, may not be parting with Real Madrid for long. According to MARCA, the Italian tactician and Los Blancos are already in informal discussions about a potential reunion after the 2026 World Cup. The club views his departure as a “see you later” rather than a final goodbye, with a “function to be determined” waiting for him upon his return.

Madrid are preparing a tribute on May 25, but the door remains wide open for Ancelotti to resume duties in a non-coaching role — possibly as a club advisor, sporting director, or mentor to younger managers.

Additional context:

Ancelotti officially takes charge of Brazil on May 26, but he’s already made his first managerial decision: initiating talks to reintegrate Casemiro into the Seleção fold.

Tensions with Madrid’s board reportedly grew due to disagreements over training intensity and management of emerging talents like Endrick and Arda Güler.

He asked the board to sign Kyle Walker in January to bolster a depleted defense, but Florentino Pérez denied the move. Walker went to Milan instead.

Xabi Alonso is heavily tipped to take over after leaving Bayer Leverkusen, with Ancelotti’s son Davide likely seeking a head coach role elsewhere.

The legacy of Ancelotti in Madrid, decorated with 15 trophies, including 2 Champions Leagues and 2 La Liga titles, is etched in gold — and the club clearly isn’t ready to close th

e book just yet.
