Arsenal is currently in pole position to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres, who earns around £400,000 per week. New sporting director Andrea Berta has made Gyökeres a key target and has already begun talks. The striker is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League, which boosts Arsenal’s chances.
Gyökeres has had a phenomenal season, netting 52 goals and providing 15 assists, including seven hat-tricks. While his release clause is £83.5 million, Sporting may accept a bid closer to £58.5 million. Manchester United are also interested, but Gyökeres is said to favor a move to North London.
Alongside Gyökeres, Arsenal is also keeping tabs on Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. Berta, who previously worked with Cunha at Atlético Madrid, is interested in bringing him to the Emirates. Cunha has scored 13 goals this season and could add versatility to Arsenal’s attacking options.
