✅ DONE DEAL: Jeremie Frimpong Joins Liverpool on Long-Term Contract

Liverpool have secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, activating his €40 million (£33.6m) release clause to bring in the Dutch right-back as a key part of their summer rebuild.

The 24-year-old will sign a five-year contract until 2030, becoming the club’s first major addition of the window — and the chosen successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who confirmed his departure from Anfield last week after two decades at the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s exit, announced following the end of his contract, marks the end of an iconic era at Liverpool. His departure left a significant void on the right side of the defense — one that the Reds had been preparing for. Frimpong was identified early as their top target to replace the England international.

According to Kicker, negotiations between Liverpool and Frimpong progressed smoothly, with the club ready to formalize the deal when the first Premier League transfer window opens on June 1.

Why Frimpong?

Frimpong arrives after a stellar campaign under Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, where he played a pivotal role in their historic unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning season. Known for his speed, direct attacking style, and work ethic, Frimpong brings energy and versatility to the right flank — a profile well suited to the demands of modern football and Liverpool’s tactical evolution under new management.

Looking Ahead

This transfer marks a bold statement of intent from Liverpool’s incoming leadership, emphasizing swift and decisive action in the market. Frimpong will officially become a Liverpool player once the transfer window opens on June 1, with registration likely to be completed before the window temporarily closes on June 10.

The Reds are expected to remain active in the transfer market as they reshape the squad for a new era at Anfie
