Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez has sent Liverpool fans into meltdown with his reply to a journalist who questioned why he was not among the Premier League Young Player of the Season nominees.
Liverpool Eye Summer Full-Back Duo with Kerkez and Frimpong in Their Sights
Liverpool’s summer rebuild is gaining momentum, with the club targeting two of Europe’s most exciting young full-backs: Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.
Kerkez, the 21-year-old Hungary international, has enjoyed a standout season with Bournemouth, quickly establishing himself as one of the game’s most promising full-backs. He’s long been linked with a move to Anfield, with many seeing him as a potential long-term successor to Andy Robertson.
According to David Ornstein on Sky Sports News, Kerkez is now “top of the list” for Liverpool, as the club prepares for what could be a significant summer transfer window under incoming manager Arne Slot.
The Hungarian reportedly has a £50 million release clause, and Liverpool’s interest doesn’t stop there. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the club are in advanced talks with £35 million-rated Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong, potentially signalling a double swoop to reinforce both flanks.
Despite not being named among the Premier League Young Player of the Season nominees, Kerkez’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed. In fact, he responded to a post from journalist Bence Bocsak, who expressed disbelief over the omission, by replying:
“Don’t worry, someone else saw it 😉.”
Though cryptic, fans quickly interpreted the wink emoji and message as a nod to Liverpool’s interest, with many taking to social media to speculate:
“Was that someone… Arne [Slot]?”
“Welcome to Anfield.”
“Kerkez x Frimpong = the full-back duo to storm the PL.”
“You’ll win it at Liverpool next year.”
Kerkez has also previously spoken of his desire to play at the highest level, telling The Athletic in March:
“As a kid, you dream of playing at the top, winning trophies, joining the best teams. We’ll see what happens in the summer.”
With the Reds seemingly serious about revamping their defense — and with the funds to do so — Kerkez and Frimpong could be key pillars in the next era at Anfield
