Private jet lands in England – Liverpool spotted in secret transfer talks: report

Liverpool may have gained ground in the pursuit of Florian Wirtz, one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents, following a secret meeting that has recently come to light.

According to German football journalist Christian Falk, writing for The Daily Briefing on Substack, Wirtz’s family — who represent the Bayer Leverkusen star — flew to England for a low-profile visit, including stops in Blackpool and Manchester. During the trip, it’s believed they held talks with Liverpool officials.

The Wirtz family’s movements were traced, with reports revealing they departed Germany on a private Embraer Legacy 550 jet at 10 a.m., returning quietly via a low-key Dutch-German airstrip.

Although Manchester City have already made contact, Liverpool are now thought to be in a strong position, possibly even ahead in the race for the 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

Paul Joyce has also reported that Liverpool are preparing a compelling offer to convince Wirtz to choose Anfield amid competition from Europe’s elite.

Germany international Florian Wirtz, who remains under contract at Bayer Leverkusen until 2027, is also firmly on Bayern Munich’s radar. The German giants remain confident they’ll eventually secure his signature — whether in the upcoming window or in 2026.

However, Liverpool’s emergence as a serious contender — reportedly ahead of Manchester City in the race — has sparked growing optimism among fans and insiders alike.

David Ornstein has echoed this sentiment, noting a rising confidence within Anfield that the Reds could pull off a significant transfer coup.

While the 2003-born playmaker has previously been linked with Premier League clubs, this marks the strongest indication yet that Liverpool are seriously positioning themselves to land him.

Should the move happen, Wirtz would signal a statement signing ahead of what’s expected to be a transformative summer for the club.

And with an unlikely stop in Blackpool and discreet meetings in Manchester, this potential deal could be quietly gathering momentum behind the scenes.
