Real Madrid are eyeing Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté as a potential defensive reinforcement for the 2025–26 season.

The Spanish giants have made inquiries about the 25-year-old center-back, whose contract with Liverpool runs until 2026. While Liverpool are keen to renew his deal, no extension has been finalized.

Madrid are reportedly aware of a release clause in Konaté’s contract, which could see him leave for around €60 million.

Konaté has acknowledged interest from elite clubs like Real Madrid and PSG, calling it “flattering,” but says he’s staying focused on his current season while his agents handle transfer matters.

The interest stems from Real Madrid’s recent defensive injury troubles, with key players like Militao, Alaba, and Rüdiger struggling with fitness. Though they’ve signed Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, Konaté is still viewed as a key target to fortify the backline.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are doing everything they can to retain him, though his future could hinge on decisions involving stars like Van Dijk and Trent Alexander

-Arnold.
