Liverpool Eyes Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze Amid Wirtz Uncertainty
Liverpool is reportedly weighing up a potential £70 million move for 26-year-old England international Eberechi Eze, who recently made headlines with a historic performance.
The Reds have shown interest in the Crystal Palace playmaker, whose release clause stands at £70 million. Eze, who netted the winning goal at Wembley to secure Palace’s first major trophy, has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time, particularly after his match-winning display at Anfield in April 2024.
While no official contact has been made, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest currently appear to be leading the race for Eze. However, Liverpool could still join the fray, especially if their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz does not materialize. Reports suggest Liverpool’s new sporting director, Richard Hughes, has submitted an offer for Wirtz, who remains a top target.
Eze’s manager, Oliver Glasner, has praised him as a “dangerous” attacker and “an unbelievable finisher,” following a season in which he tallied 13 goals and 11 assists. Crystal Palace are reportedly insisting that any suitor must meet the full release clause upfront—a demand that could complicate Tottenham’s approach and leave the door open for Liverpool.
Although Eze may not be Liverpool’s first choice, his form, homegrown status, and proven Premier League pedigree make him an attractive alternative should other transfer priorities shift. With his prime years ahead and growing reputation, Eze’s stock continues to rise, especially after his standout Wembley showing.
