Paris Saint-Germain takes advantage of the turmoil at Barcelona and moves quickly, submitting a “sensational” offer to snatch the Catalan club’s star following a direct request from Luis Enrique.

Despite Barcelona’s impressive feat this season—clinching the domestic treble (La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Super Cup)—the challenges haven’t stopped. While fans celebrate and analysts praise the team’s success, the club’s leadership is fully aware that staying at the top is even harder than getting there. Following a triumphant campaign, Barcelona now faces a critical period of internal reorganization, with a key focus on renewing contracts for several of their top players whose deals are nearing expiration.

These issues go beyond keeping star players. Barcelona’s ongoing financial troubles continue to affect its strategic decisions, making negotiations more complex. The management now faces a difficult task: how to keep the squad intact while managing limited financial resources, and how to align the ambitions of their top talents with the club’s sporting vision. In this regard, the period after the season’s end is proving to be as demanding off the pitch as the season was on it.

One player at the heart of this situation is Lamine Yamal, a rising sensation in global football despite being just 17. With standout performances for Barcelona, Yamal has shown that he’s not a fleeting talent but a potential global icon whose value and fame are rapidly increasing.

Although Yamal is under contract until 2026, his future at Camp Nou is uncertain due to the club’s financial limitations. Barcelona is struggling to meet his demands, both in terms of salary and assurances about the club’s sporting future.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Yamal wants a contract that reflects his growing influence, but President Joan Laporta is finding it tough to deliver on that front. Meanwhile, reports suggest that his agent, Jorge Mendes, is maintaining open discussions with Paris Saint-Germain, who are keen to bring the young star to France and view him as a critical addition to their squad.

Within Barcelona’s hierarchy, there is increasing concern about potentially losing such a promising young talent. Despite having more than a year left on his deal, Yamal’s future is already a hot topic among the club’s top brass. Losing a player of his caliber at such a young age would be a significant setback for the club’s long-term plans.

On the other side, French newspaper L’Équipe has reported that PSG manager Luis Enrique is strongly pushing for Yamal’s signing. He has even asked club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to reach out to the player’s family and offer a deal worth three times what Barcelona can currently propose. Enrique believes PSG can persuade Yamal’s camp, especially given the club’s ambitious sporting project and its strong position ahead of a potential treble—pending the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
