Liverpool star’s future in doubt amid Manchester United interest

Kostas Tsimikas Likely to Leave Liverpool This Summer

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to part ways with left-back Kostas Tsimikas in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.

Although the Greek international contributed to Liverpool’s recent successes—including their Premier League title—he is no longer viewed as part of the club’s long-term vision for the defense.

Tsimikas joined from Olympiacos in 2020 and has reliably served as Andy Robertson’s backup for five seasons. However, as Robertson’s influence diminishes and the club pivots toward a new era, Liverpool don’t see Tsimikas as the right candidate to take on a more prominent role.

Transfer Plans and a New Target

Tsimikas, now 28 and under contract until 2027, is expected to be listed for transfer. In preparation for his potential exit, Liverpool have reportedly earmarked Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as their preferred replacement at left-back.

Pundit Ian Wright recently suggested that the move for the Hungarian defender is “probably done,” emphasizing Liverpool’s strong interest in sealing the deal.

A Notable Spell at Anfield

Tsimikas leaves behind a memorable legacy at Anfield, having made 114 appearances and delivered some iconic moments. Among them: netting the winning penalty in the 2022 FA Cup final and assisting Virgil van Dijk’s goal in the 2024 EFL Cup final. He also played a key role in various domestic and European campaigns.

Off the pitch, Tsimikas shared a strong bond with Mohamed Salah, once stating:
“Mo is one of my best mates… He’s always been there for me, and we spend a lot of time talking at the training ground.”

With both Tsimikas and Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave, Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer market as they look to reinforce their defense ahead of the new season.
