On Saturday, German coach Hansi Flick addressed the media in his final press conference of the La Liga season, ahead of Barcelona’s concluding match against Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona clinched the league title with two games to spare after a decisive win over Espanyol in Round 36. The triumph marked the official celebration of the championship. Under Flick’s guidance, the team also secured a domestic double by capturing the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, outperforming arch-rivals Real Madrid along the way.
Flick’s debut season has been widely praised as a comprehensive success. In addition to the domestic treble, he led the team to the Champions League semi-finals—though their journey ended controversially, with officiating decisions believed to have hampered their path to the final against Inter Milan.
Looking ahead, Flick is collaborating closely with sporting director Deco to strategize for the summer transfer window, aiming to further strengthen the squad for next season’s challenges.
Particular focus is being placed on bolstering the attack, with an emphasis on adding experienced and high-caliber forwards to complement the rising talents of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. In this context, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United and Luis Díaz of Liverpool have emerged as top targets.
When asked about the possibility of acquiring these players, Flick told the Metro newspaper, “They are two great players. They hold a high position in my heart, and we’ll see what happens during the transfer window.”
Metro interpreted this remark as a strong signal of Barcelona’s intention to pursue one or both attackers, as the club seeks to reinforce its offensive firepower and sustain its competitive momentum into the new season.
