Suspended Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk will attend the UEFA Conference League Final against Real Betis tonight, despite being banned from play and training since December following a failed doping test.
The Ukrainian international was instrumental in Chelsea’s early run in the competition before his suspension and remains eligible for a winner’s medal under UEFA regulations, which allow clubs to distribute 50 medals regardless of final result.
Sources close to the club say Mudryk’s presence is seen as a nod of respect to his contribution, but uncertainty remains over whether he’ll be permitted to join the on-pitch celebrations if Chelsea win the trophy.
Mudryk’s case is still under investigation, and although he’s been sidelined for months, his name continues to stir conversation — both for his potential and his controversy.
Chelsea fans are split:
“He deserves that medal — he helped get us here.”
“Why is someone with a doping ban anywhere near the squad?”
All eyes now turn to Athens — will Chelsea lift their first-ever Conference League title? And will Mudryk be part of the glory or remain on
the sidelines?
