Darwin Núñez Set for Summer Exit Amid Atletico Madrid Interest

Liverpool are expected to part ways with Darwin Núñez this summer, with a return to Spain looking increasingly likely for the 25-year-old striker, who previously featured for Almería before his rise to European prominence.

Despite interest from clubs such as Serie A leaders Napoli, the La Liga route appears to be the most probable destination, with Atletico Madrid emerging as a leading contender.

According to Cadena SER (via Football España), Núñez has already held talks with Atletico representatives and has expressed a strong desire to join Diego Simeone’s side. The Spanish club are keen to refresh their attacking options, particularly with Ángel Correa expected to depart and Antoine Griezmann‘s role gradually diminishing despite a recent contract extension.

Núñez has reportedly grown discontent at Anfield following a difficult season under new manager Arne Slot, and Liverpool are open to selling him—provided they can recoup a substantial portion of their original investment.

However, Atletico’s ability to meet Liverpool’s valuation might hinge on their other transfer priorities, including potential moves for Cristian Romero (Tottenham) and Alex Baena (Aston Villa).

While several suitors remain in the race, Núñez’s personal preference may ultimately decide the outcome—and for now, Atletico Madrid appears to be leading the chase.
