Fabrizio Romano: £350,000-a-Week Man Utd Star’s Camp Meet With Interested Club

Barcelona in Talks for Manchester United Forward Marcus Rashford

According to Fabrizio Romano, representatives of Marcus Rashford have held talks with FC Barcelona regarding a potential move ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rashford has endured a challenging few years at Manchester United, struggling to recapture the form that made him a breakout star from the club’s academy. A loan move to Aston Villa in January offered a much-needed change of scenery, and the England international showed noticeable improvement during his brief spell there.

With the loan now concluded, Rashford is set to return to Old Trafford. However, Aston Villa have not yet acted on a permanent transfer, and there’s uncertainty about whether they plan to keep him — especially after manager Rúben Amorim removed him from the squad shortly after taking charge.

As things stand, a summer exit from Manchester United looks increasingly likely. Barcelona are monitoring the situation closely, with early discussions already underway. The Catalan club reportedly views Rashford as a strong fit for their attack due to his pace, versatility, and experience at the top level.

Whether these talks evolve into a formal offer will depend on multiple factors — including Villa’s final decision, United’s willingness to sell, and Rashford’s own stance on a move abroad.

Barcelona Reignite Interest in Marcus Rashford Amid £40m Availability

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Marcus Rashford’s representatives met with Barcelona on Wednesday to explore a possible move ahead of the summer transfer window. The Manchester United forward, who recently completed a loan spell at Aston Villa, is now reportedly available for a fee of around £40 million.

Rashford has been on Barcelona’s shortlist since January, when an earlier attempt to sign him failed due to a lack of outgoing transfers at the Camp Nou. As confirmed by both Romano and @tjuanmarti, the Catalan giants are still considering Rashford, who remains one of four forward options the club is actively monitoring.

Rashford’s Stats at Aston Villa:

  • Appearances: 10
  • Assists: 2
  • Key Passes/Match: 1.3
  • Shots/Match: 1.9
  • Dribbles/Match: 0.9
  • Average Match Rating: 6.82

While his form improved at Villa, Rashford is still seen as underperforming relative to his hefty £350,000-a-week salary at Old Trafford. Manchester United are now open to selling him, especially with his high wages and diminishing impact.

A transfer to Barcelona could offer Rashford a fresh start away from the intense spotlight of the Premier League. With the La Liga side in the midst of reshaping their attack under Hansi Flick, a move to Spain might be exactly what the 26-year-old needs to revive his career.
