Milos Kerkez Unfazed by Liverpool Transfer Talk Amid Summer Speculation
Milos Kerkez insists he remains focused despite growing speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool.
The Bournemouth left-back has emerged as a target for the Reds as new manager Arne Slot prepares for a potentially busy summer window. Even after securing the Premier League title comfortably, Slot is determined to strengthen the squad to sustain Liverpool’s dominance. The club has already secured Jeremie Frimpong to succeed Trent Alexander-Arnold, while a record-breaking £109 million bid has brought Florian Wirtz closer to a move.
Many fans agree that reinforcing the left side of defence is a logical next step. Andy Robertson, who joined Liverpool in 2017, has played a pivotal role in the club’s success over the past seven years, helping them to eight major trophies, including the Champions League and two Premier League titles.
There are reports that Kerkez has agreed personal terms with Liverpool, with Bournemouth said to value the 21-year-old at around £45 million. However, Kerkez remains grounded, brushing off any suggestion that the rumours have gone to his head.
Speaking in a documentary for MLSZ TV (as reported by Nemzeti Sport), he said:
“Of course, something always leaks into the news — I don’t know how. But I think it’s normal: if you play well and your team is performing, your name comes up and people talk about you. I see it as fuel that pushes me forward. It doesn’t inflate my ego or shake me; instead, it teaches me humility and motivates me.”
Close Bond with Szoboszlai
Kerkez will link up with Hungary’s national team for friendlies against Sweden and Azerbaijan during the upcoming international break. He’ll be playing alongside Liverpool midfielder and national captain Dominik Szoboszlai, with whom he shares a strong friendship — a factor that could further encourage a move to Anfield.
Reflecting on their relationship, Kerkez said:
“We met when I first joined the national team and spoke in German because I was nervous about using Hungarian. He made the switch for me and welcomed me right away. From that moment, we talked every day and got closer. We still speak regularly — almost every other day. It’s great to have a friend who always picks up the phone and never leaves you hanging.”
